Oracle Database 11gR2 (11.2.0.4) installation on Oracle Linux 6.4. In this post, I’m installing the Oracle Database 11g Release 2 (11.2.0.4) software on Oracle Linux 6.4, along with optional instructions on how to apply the latest Patch Set Update (PSU) to your new Oracle home. First and foremost, before you start, make sure your Linux server. This article describes the installation of Oracle Database 11g Release 2 (11.2) (64-bit) on Oracle Linux 5 (64-bit). The article is based on a server installation with a minimum of 2G swap and secure Linux set to permissive. Oracle recommend a default server installation, but for these installations the following package groups installed.

An user fix the same issue by using the following method, you could have a try.After downloading the two zip files related to Oracle 11G R2. Create a folder in some directory (For say 'Oracle11GR2'). Extract both zip files into the same folder 'Oracle11GR2'. Hi Team,We've installed a latest Oracle Database 12C Release 2 on OEL6.8. Thanks Tom and Team for the help.Just to add more point.Today, we migrated a Database from AIX(11.2.0.4) to Unix(12.2.0.1). User was facing same issue ORA-28040: No matching authentication protocol and later invalid username/password after setting the SQLNET.ALLOWEDLOGONVERSION=8.Interesting thing was when passing the password in UPPERCASE, user was able to connect.I fired alter user username password 'samepassword' account unlock and things started working.The only things which I find relevant from oracle doc is'The server has been configured with SECCASESENSITIVELOGON set to FALSE, so that it can only authenticate users who have a 10G case-insensitive password version.'
