my EA2700 is running stock 1.0.14 build 129982 2012-03-07 04:25.
i tried flashing dd-wrt-23158-ea2700.trx , flash is successful and router reboots automatically, then it stays in a boot loop, after doing a 30-30-30 reset, it goes back to stock linksys, tried twice, same behavior.

I can confirm this is working 100% including reboots... I was successful in upgrading from stock firmware to this build without any problem.. Looks like the problem was that the CFE would not allow any file over 18mb to be flashed to the router.
This is working great so far... see attached screenshot

what stock firmware were you on before flashing? anything special to be done for initial flash?
thanks guys

I downgraded the smart WiFi firmware to the stock firmware in the guide from the link above. Then I did a 'firmware upgrade' with the dd-wrt image posted by BrainSlayer above.
After rebooting, the stock (Cisco) firmware is back. So this seems to be the same problem as nolimitz has.
Does it have anything to do with a version number of the EA2700?

so it worked for me now on two EA2700, this is what i did:
- hard reset 30/30/30
- flash linksys classic (even if it is already there!)
http://downloads.linksys.com/downloads/firmware/FW_EA2700_1.0.14.129982.zip
- hard reset 30/30/30
- flash BrainSlayer image above
- hard reset 30/30/30
some notes and concerns:
- 5Ghhz radio is not there, only 2.4Ghz is in the settings/stats/wireless/etc
- after a power cycle, dd-wrt shows giga build
- after a reboot, cpu clock showed a value of 200Mhz, i did a hard reset and now it shows 480 mhz again.
thanks BrainSlayer and Fractal and everybody at dd-wrt

rayl,
You should hard reset it to clear nvram, so it will detect proper frequency, your screenshot shows 200mhz.. The cpu for this device is 480mhz

Fractal, there is an issue with administration gui, default cpu clock is 200, if you change anything in administration page, save and apply, cpu clock will change to 200. 480 is not in the options.

I noticed that too, by default the cpu clock is set to 200mhz, it needs to be 480 for this device... I did have to hard reset after flashing to get 480 mhz, otherwise you are correct it clocks at 200mhz

Works perfectly using the manual firmware upgrade from the default software. I didn't have to flash back or do any resets. Just selected the dd-wrt firmware and it flashed and rebooted.
The easiest process ever. Works perfectly so far (I use two routers in the house, and this one is dedicated to non-5Ghz devices so I don't use 5Ghz)

After using the initial flash trailed build (the file with the router name in it), only use nv64k builds to upgrade with or you will brick your unit. Don't confuse this unit with some other Linksys E-Series units that use nv60k builds!

[edit]Initial Flash

  1. Read the Firmware_FAQ and Peacock Announcement.
  2. Connect a LAN cable to the PC doing the flash, and disconnect other cables and wireless clients
  3. Do a hard reset on router
  4. Log into Linksys Web Interface Firmware Upgrade page
  5. Upload the known good initial flash E1200 (v1) Trailed Build
  6. Wait 5 minutes to assure flash integrity, then power cycle the E1200 (unplug for 10 seconds).
  7. Plug the E1200 back in and wait about 2 minutes until it finishes booting.
  8. Do a hard reset, then wait for it to boot.
  9. Open web interface to set a user and password, then configure as needed.

[edit]Upgrade DD-WRT

Hard
  1. To upgrade, use a k2.6 nv64k mini build (_K2.6_mini-nv64k.bin) from the /broadcom_K26 directory.
  2. Research build threads first to avoid bad builds.
  • WARNING: only use nv64k builds that fit a 4MB flash footprint, bigger builds can either fail or brick your unit.
  • Do not try to flash K3X: while a K3X trailed and nv64k build exists, the files are for minimum 8MB flash devices.

Support for this model was added with build 18946, so do not use any older builds. To be safe, only use builds that are linked within this wiki, or otherwise read New Build and model-specific forum threads. To find the latest builds, look here in broadcom_K26 folders.

Hard Reset Linksys Ea2700

Factory

Download the stock firmware image from the manufacturer's website, reset the router back to defaults using a 30-30-30 hard reset, then flash the stock image from within the dd-wrt webgui. After 5 minutes it should finish, you will then need to do another 30-30-30 reset and then access the stock webgui @ 192.168.1.1
